Different Ways of Activating Your Verizon Phone

By Zelma Kirkendall

Verizon is making serious leaps to make activating a new Verizon phone easier than ever! One major drawback to owning a Verizon phone over some other carriers is that you can't just transfer a sim card to any phone you want. In my opinion, allowing phones to be activated with a sim card alone makes it more tempting for someone to steal your phone and use their own sim card.

One of the best and most common ways to activate a Verizon phone is actually over the phone. To do this you'll need to have access to another phone of course. Verizon makes it so simple to do that if you can access another phone for activation, it's almost instant.

One preferred method of activating a Verizon phone is by doing so online. You can actually log on to the Verizon website and find access to an online activation system. This takes a little bit of technical know-how but it's relatively simple to do. If you don't want to bother with this method, the over-the-phone method is preferable.

In the past, activating an iPhone was very bothersome and difficult to many people. With the newer iPhone models, activating them is a very simple process. No more messing with plugging your iPhone into the computer and activating it with a troublesome usb cable. Any of the iPhones available on the Verizon network have this new easy activation system that I'm talking about.

For the longest time now, customers have been really unsure if they should go with verizon due to the fact that they don't have easily transferable sim cards like AT&T/Cingular does. I don't blame them either, activating a Verizon phone used to be almost like pulling out teeth(not anymore!). There's a reason that they don't allow easy to transfer sim cards on Verizon; because it makes phone thieves' jobs easier!
