So you've gotten down the task of writing a song on your own but there's just one problem: You aren't a soloist and your band doesn't appreciate you writing their parts for them.

They say exceptional music is produced when there are energy among the group and the more enthusiastic the members, the better. Those who have been involved in bands one way or another have learned the different techniques and have adapted them in music making. These techniques are really a big help especially to those who are new in the music industry. If you are good with your piano improvisation skills, you can lead the way.

1. Jamming out. This is probably one of the most fun ways to write a song. If your band is great at improvising then this will probably come most natural. Get your band members together for a jam session. Make sure you have a recording device so you can remember what you are all playing at the moment you realize you have some song material. This method may take some time but is often quite rewarding since every band member gets to put in their own creativity completely on the fly. If you're writing a complete song, you'll probably want to have at least 2 different parts if not 3 parts to your composition. Once you have come up with one part, kick off with another jam to write a different part. You'll often find that the other parts come easier because they are now base off another part.

2. Following the leader is very important to a band. The leader is the one who usually provides strong ideas and concepts to the band. They say that the bands with more than one leader benefit more since there is integration of a lot of brilliant ideas. These leaders may include the guitarist, the bassist or the keyboardist. When the band is aiming for success then these people are the most important figures who contribute to it. The reason why people appeal to the music is because of the twist that the musicians usually incorporate to the music itself. Each member can add on unique parts to the music in order to make the composition groovy. They say that this period involves a lot of concrete parts that is why most musicians consider that this period is easier compared to the jamming out session.

3. Last is the overdubbing which is another technique that most bands use for piano improvisation. This method typically employs improved materials from the band. For instance, the band will just start up with a beat from the drummer and the part of the bassist. This will then lead to a well-defined rhythm that will later on be employed by the group. This is followed by the performance of the guitarist and the part of the keyboardist that would be recorded on top of the rhythm that was first created by the drummer and the bassist. This can be comparable to the other two techniques. However, the difference is that, it gives the members more time to decide on their parts. This method is most applicable when all the members are present in a studio so that they can do their own parts for the composition.
