CSL Slim Mi410: Cheap and powerful Android smartphone (Short Preview + Review)

Last week, I happened to get my hand on demo unit of CSL Slim Mi410 (a.k.a. Spice Mi410), a smartphone running on the popular Google Android OS. I am pretty excited with this phone, simply because it's one of the power-packed smartphone below RM1,000 price tag.

CSL Slim Mi410 is one of the latest smartphone to be added to the CSL's Android smartphone family. It is manufactured by Foxconn (the factory that assembles Apple's iPhone), with the codename of Foxconn FB400. Foxconn also OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) this phone to other famous hand phone maker such as:
  • Motorola TRIUMPH
  • Huawei U9000 IDEOS X6
  • Viewsonic Viewpad 4
  • Cherry Mobile Magnum HD A400
  • Spice Mi-410

Some of the major features of CSL Slim Mi410:
  • Android 2.3.4 OS (Gingerbread)
  • GSM 900/1800, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, 3G, WiFi,
  • Qualcomm 1GHz processor (Snapdragon), Adreno 205 GPU
  • 512MB RAM / 2GB ROM
  • 4.1" TFT Capacitive TouchScreen (480x800 pixels)
  • 5MP camera (with autofocus), LED flash, 720p HD video recording
  • Accelerometer (Gravity) sensor + Proximity sensor + GPS (with A-GPS support) + Digital compass + Ambient light sensor
  • Li-ion 1400 mAH
  • Bluetooth 3.0 HS

I had the luck to test it out that day, and my comment:
  • Interface is quick and snappy. No lagging during my entire encounter with it
  • The colour is vibrant and nice (there are reports about this device's screen having 262K colours instead of 16 million colours, this one I can't confirm)
  • 4.1" screen is really a luxury (for a below RM1,000 Android phone. You can't find another phone with this big screen at this low price)
  • MapKing GPS software is included (no need to fork out more $ to buy GPS software, which is always absent in other Android smartphone)
  • Overall design is solid, though a bit heavy at 143g (due to it's having metal casing).
  • CSL does generously offers HDMI cable, car charger, handsfree (earphone) and 4GB memory card inside the box at no extra charges!

If only I can get a review unit from CSL!! haha...

You can get more information about CSL Slim Mi410 from the below websites:

This is definitely one of the killer phone for below RM1,000 market. Currently, CSL is running a promotion for CSL Slim Mi410 at only RM799. A quick search over Google returns that this phone initially sell at RM1,399. At RM799, having a 1GHz CPU + 4.1" Screen + manufactured by Foxconn seems a pretty good deal, if not GREAT!

ZumoDrive - Great backup for access from any device!

Most people backup their data to external harddisk. What they do is, they just keep a duplicate copy of those files using copy and paste. The problem with this method is, when you update the file on your compute, the backup copy in the external harddisk is not updated, unless you update it manually.

1000's Tech Corner would like to introduce you ZumoDrive, a personal content mover that easily gets ALL your content onto any of your devices, including your netbook, tablet and smartphone. With ZumoDrive, you can now take your music, photos, videos, documents and other files wherever you go regardless of where the files originated, how much on-device storage capacity is available, or whether you’re online or off.

To put it short, ZumoDrive acts like an online server storage that allows you to keep your files there and most of your devices (PC, laptop, netbook, iPhone, smartphone etc) can access it easily from anywhere, anytime. Best of all, right now they are offering 2GB free!

After registering an account with ZumoDrive, you will need to install a program on your device. After that, you will see a Z drive in your windows explorer. It acts just like your external harddisk!

I would not suggest you to copy paste the files you wanted to backup into the Z drive. Instead, for the folders that you wanted to backup and share, do right-click on the folder itself and choose "link folder to ZumoDrive". This action will automate the process of duplicate that folder and it's content to your Z drive, and any changes you did to that folder in your PC will be automatically updated in your Z drive!

With ZumoDrive, all the things you backup will be accessible from anywhere, as long as you have Internet connection and any device (PC, iPhone, smartphone etc). Isn't that cool?
